Installed with a viewable oval area 2 5/8 inches tall and 2 1/8 inches wide, this Quarter Plate tintype features a standing man in civilian clothing, wearing a pair of knee-high boots and holding a Colt Model 1855 Revolving Shotgun in hand. Production for the Model 1855 Shotgun was very limited, with about 1,100 made between 1860 and 1863. The matting is gilt finished with impressed scroll and geometric patterns, with a red velvet lining inside the lid and a 4 inch wide, 4 7/8 inch tall Gutta Percha case with raised floral decoration.
