This is an example of a MP-40 type Submachine gun that was remanufactured using a set of WWII German parts mated to newly manufactured receiver made by the Charles Erb Company. Original MP40 SMGs were highly prized as war trophies during WWII and are even more desirable today as one of the most sought-after WWII SMGs. They were widely used by German forces throughout WWII and again afterwards by numerous European countries that captured thousands of these weapons. They were lightweight, accurate, and easy to shoot making them an ideal infantry weapon. They were a blowback operated weapon firing the standard 9 mm Parabellum cartridge from an open bolt. The cyclic rate was approximately 500 rpm so they are easy to handle. This example has mixed WWII German parts with the noted new receiver. The top of the trigger housing cap is marked with: "MP 40/bnz 43". It has the standard stamped sheet metal lower housing assembly with a ribbed magazine housing with the machined bolt and barrel assembly. The left rear side of the receiver is stamped with the Charles Erb Bullet Logo and the serial number was stamped in a style similar to the original German numbering. Most of the various parts all have their original serial numbers and German proofs marks. It has the dark red bakelite grips and lower receiver cover. This weapon comes with one original MP38/40, stick magazine.

Rating Definition:

NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
