Manufactured in 1870 as a third model with the serial number stamped in block numerals behind the trigger. The barrel has the two-line Winchester address/King patent dates legend ahead of the rear sight. The sights consists of a blade integral to the front barrel band and two leaf rear sight. The left side of the brass receiver is period hand marked "JW Cope/1870" and has a saddle ring. The bolt remains in its original rimfire configuration. The carbine stock is fitted with a trapdoor brass buttplate. Comes with a four piece cleaning rod. The '66 secured Winchester's place in the annals of the West and launched a long line of successful Winchester lever actions that remain popular to this day and still retain the basic form of the '66.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The barrel and magazine tube have a smooth untouched dark gray patina overall. The fine brass has a very attractive mellow aged appearance. Slight traces of original nitre blue remain on the loading gate, and hints of original case color patterns remain on the hammer. The wood is fine with a high quality wood filled sling swivel base cutout on the underside of the buttstock and minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
