Description:

The Colt Model 1849 Pocket was the most popular of all of Colt's percussion revolvers thanks to robust commercial sales. Around 340,000 were manufactured in 1850-1873, and they saw use throughout the U.S., including the Old West. This fairly early '49 was manufactured in 1853 and has a brass cone front sight, "{ADDRESS SAML COLT/NEW YORK CITY}" on top at the breech, a "B" on the left side of the barrel lug at the bottom and the side of the cylinder, the standard cylinder scene, small "COLTS/PATENT" marking on the left side of the frame, "V" and "G" on the left side of the trigger guard, and matching serial numbers on the loading lever, wedge, barrel, cylinder, arbor pin, frame, trigger guard, back strap, and grip (properly hand-written in dark ink in the rear mortise).

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% original silver plating which displays natural aged patina, 60% original blue finish, 50% original muted original case colors on the frame, some minor oxidation/pitting, and mild overall wear. The grip is also very fine aside from a chip on the lower left and has glossy finish, minor scratches and handling marks, and some dings on the butt. Mechanically functions but lacks half cock notch in hammer.
