Description:

This early Second Model revolver was manufactured in 1850 and has the distinctive square-back trigger guard and wedge under the screw that distinguish this variation from other Model 1851 Navies. The barrel has a cone front sight and "-ADDRESS SAML COLT. NEW-YORK CITY-" on top. The frame has the "COLT'S/PATENT" marking on the left. The cylinder has the standard Navy battle scene and patent marking. The loading lever and wedge have been remarked with the matching number. Matching serial numbers are correctly marked on the barrel, arbor pin, cylinder, frame, trigger guard, back strap, and back strap mortise of the grip (hand-written in black ink).

Rating Definition:

Good with half of the original silver plating remaining on the grip straps and display dark aged patina, natural aged patina on the exposed brass, replaced wedge screw, mix of gray and artificial brown patina on the barrel and some minor pitting on the balance, mostly distinct cylinder scene and other markings, and general mild wear. The grip is very good and has some minor scrapes and dings, light edge wear, and a few tiny flakes. Mechanically excellent.
