Description:

The included copy of a factory letter indicates it was part of a 1,000 gun shipment sent to Major G.D. Callender at the St. Louis Arsenal on November 20, 1862. The St. Louis Arsenal was the third largest arsenal in the U.S. at the outbreak of the Civil War and supplied arms and ammunition to the Union forces in the Western Theater during the war. The revolver has the standard markings and features, including matching serial numbers. The three-screw frame and back strap are cut for mounting a shoulder stock. Includes a modern custom case fitted to the gun, an unmarked bag-shaped powder flask, and a "COLT'S PATENT" marked dual cavity bullet mold.

Rating Definition:

Very good with traces of original finish, mostly gray and brown patina, some minor pitting, absent wedge screw, replaced front trigger guard screw, and general mild wear. The grip is good and has moderate wear concentrated at the edges including some chips and dents. Mechanically fine. The accessories are fair; the mold has moderate oxidation and pitting, and the flask has several dents. The custom made case is very good and has mild storage related wear.
