Description:

This revolver was manufactured in 1856 as a percussion revolver and was then converted in the 1870s. The cartridge conversion Navy revolvers continued to be used by the U.S. Navy up until their replacement in the 1890s by the Colt Model 1889 Double Action revolvers. It features a brass cone front sight, "-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY-" on top of the barrel, the "COLTS/PATENT/U.S." and "PAT. JULY. 25, 1871./PAT. JULY. 2, 1872." markings on the left side of the frame, the standard Texas Navy battle cylinder scene, matching visible numbers other than the cylinder which is "59273," "1321" on the loading gate, iron grip frame, "U.S.N./J.L.H." (Commander James L. Henderson) on the butt, and smooth grip.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with 25% of original casehardened/blue finish in the protected areas and sides of the frame, mostly smooth gray patina on the balance, some minor oxidation/pitting, general dings and scratches, and mostly distinct markings. The sanded, reoiled grip is good and has moderate edge wear, a few dents, and light scratches. Mechanically excellent.
