Description:

Approximately 23,000 Model 1858 Army revolvers were manufactured by the Starr Arms Co. of New York in the late 1850s and early 1860s. 16,100 of these were manufactured under contract with the U.S. government between January 1862 and May 1863, but they are still rarer than the single action Model 1863 Army revolvers manufactured around 1863-65. This example has the standard markings and features, including matching visible serial numbers and three cartouches on the sides of the grip (two right and one left).

Rating Definition:

Fine with 40% plus original blue finish concentrated mostly on the frame, patches of vibrant original case colors on the hammer and loading lever, smooth gray and brown patina on the balance, some minor scrapes and marks, and general mild wear including some minor pitting. The grip is also fine and has distinct cartouches, moderate scrapes and dents, and mild edge wear. Mechanically fine.
