Description:

One of approximately 30,000 muskets manufactured by E. Robinson of New York City during the Civil War. It has the standard Model 1861 features, the eagle and shield motif over "U.S." at the center of the lock, "E. ROBINSON/NEW YORK" towards the front, "1863" on the tail, "1863" on the top of the barrel at the breech, U.S. inspection marks on the upper left barrel flat, a pair of "GEC" cartouches on the left stock flat, "PMOGG" on the comb ahead of the buttplate and twice on the bottom of the butt, and "PMOGG" twice and "US" on the buttplate tang, and

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with light gray patina and patches of oxidation/pitting, mostly crisp markings, and minor overall wear primarily from age and storage. The stock is fine and has distinct cartouches and markings, numerous light scrapes and dings throughout, and even oiled finish. Mechanically fine.
