This is one of only 869 Registered Magnums manufactured with a 5 inch barrel. Adding to the revolver's desirability is the factory nickel plated finish. .357 Registered Magnums were generally blued and fewer than 200 are documented as shipped with nickel finish. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 5 inch barrel, King 1 1/10 inch gold bead front sight on a King ramp base (currently modified), U notch rear sight, nickel finish and checkered walnut Magna grips when shipped on May 19, 1937 and delivered to Reams Hardware Co., Middlesboro, Kentucky. The inside of the frame is stamped "REG. 2252," and matching serial numbers are found on the butt, right grip, cylinder and ejector shroud.

Excellent, retaining 97% original nickel plating showing limited light flaking, minor handling marks and slight frost. 98% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The front sight bead is absent. The grips are near excellent with a small notch near the bottom (right panel), scattered minor handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. A desirable nickel plated .357 Registered Magnum with rare 5 inch barrel will be a fabulous addition to your S&W collection!
