Factory Engraved Smith & Wesson Hand Ejector .38 Military and Police Second Model (Model of 1902) Double Action Revolver with Pearl Grips and Factory Letter

The included Smith & Wesson factory letter gives a brief history of the Military and Police Model of 1902 revolver and confirms the serial number, the barrel length, nickel finish, Style 3 engraving, and pearl grips featured on this revolver. The letter states that this revolver was shipped from the factory on January 13, 1904 and delivered to Philip Bekeart Co, San Francisco, California. The sides of the frame are adorned with Oscar Yound Factory scroll engraving on a punch dot background, with wedges of scrollwork on rear of the top strap, back strap near the butt and behind the hammer. The engraving is also featured on cylinder chambers and both sides of the barrel at the breech. The scrollwork on the left side of the barrel surrounds the boxed caliber marking: "38 S.&W. Special/& U.S. Service CTG's" flanked with Maltese crosses. The S&W logo present on the right side of the frame is also surrounded by the scrollwork. The top of the barrel has the standard two line address. Nickel finished with casehardened trigger and hammer. Pinned half-moon front sight, 6-shot cylinder, and pearl grips with S&W medallions. Matching serial number on the frame, barrel, and cylinder.

ConditionExcellent. The revolver retains 90% plus original nickel finish with some light flaking and a noticeable cylinder drag line. There are fine surface scratches and the barrel has some minor pitting. The hammer and trigger retain some patches of original case colors fading to a smooth gray patina. The right grip panel has an absent chip on the bottom, otherwise the grips are fine with some minor handling marks (mostly on the bottoms). The pearl has an even aged yellow appearance. The engraving is clear and crisp.
