Description:

Jerry Cates was a well respected contemporary spur maker who was posthumously honored by the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum with the Chester A. Reynolds Award for his contribution to the legacy of the American West. The wide heel bands have Cates' mark near the swinging buttons, double mounted with lightly engraved sombrero patterns, and gal-leg shanks ending in large spoked rowels. With floral pattern tooled leather straps. Heel band width: 1" Shanks: 3" Rowel diameter: 2 3/8" Heel opening: 3".

Rating Definition:

Very good, showing mostly grey patina and bright silver mountings with some scattered light oxidation and pitting. The leather straps are fine with minimal wear.
