R.F. Ford No. 636 Ornately Engraved Double Mounted Spurs with Tooled Leather Straps

R.F. Ford became a highly sought after contemporary spur maker, being the first to receive the "Spur Maker of the Year" award from the Academy of Western Artists in 1996 and in 2011, just before his death, being inducted to The International Guild of Spur Makers as a "Legend Member". This pair fully display Ford's talent with swinging buttons on the heel bands which are double mounted with ornately engraved silver, brass, and copper, featuring a coyote and moon scene on the medial arm and an overflowing goblet on the lateral arm. Double silver mounted gooseneck style shanks ending in toothed rowels and basket weave pattern tooled leather straps. Heel band width: 1 1/4" Shanks: 2 5/8" Rowel diameter: 2 1/8" Heel opening: 3 5/8".

ConditionVery fine overall, showing mostly a smooth brown patina, slightly age darkened copper and brass, and mostly bright silver mountings with some mild wear. The leather straps are also very fine with some light wear.
