The inscription reads, "TO DALE ROBERTSON/FROM PAUL A. BENKE/COLT'S FIREARMS-1970." The accompanying factory letter for both revolvers confirm the 4 3/4 inch barrel in .45 Colt, blue and nickel finishes, hard rubber stocks and back strap inscription. This set was shipped to Colt Regional Manager Thomas Feireisen for "presentation purpose," Brea, California, on June 24, 1970. Both revolvers come in a Colt Custom Shop hardwood case. Each revolver comes with its correct Stagecoach box with original cardboard sleeve. Benke (1921-2015) was president of Colt's Firearms Division from 1963 to 1973 and vice president of Colt Industries Inc. from 1969 to 1973. Benke, who was hired from outside the company, had the good fortune of overseeing a major expansion of Colt sales and profits that mostly resulted from Vietnam War era U.S. government contracts. Robertson (1923-2013) was a American actor best known for his western television roles such as Tales of Wells Fargo (1957-1962) and The Iron Horse (1966-1968). At the time of the presentation in 1970, Robertson was the host of the anthology series Death Valley Days.

Excellent plus, near new with only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with minor handling/storage marks. The box is also fine with a split corner and some edge wear.
