Both knives in this lot feature the early pattern model and manufacturer markings on the right side flat of the blade; while a nice large place for markings, concerns were expressed that the stampings could negatively effect the blade, leading to the later standard of marking the guards. Both knives are fitted with spear point blades, oval guards with upturned thumb rests, ribbed leather washer grips, and "bomb" marked pommels. 1) U.S. Imperial knife, 11 5/8 inches overall with a 6 3/4 inch blade marked "US M3 IMPERIAL", hammered tang, and a U.S. M8A1 sheath. 2) U.S. Camillus knife, 11 1/2 inches overall, with a 6 3/4 inch blade marked "US M3 CAMILLUS", pinned tang, and a U.S. M8 sheath.
