Description:

The rifle has a blued barrel, trigger guard, floor plate, barrel bands and bolt and oil quenched casehardened receiver. The rifle serial number indicates the receiver was manufactured in 1914. The .22 caliber barrel is dated "12-14". The rifle has an early style straight grip "S" stock without reinforcing bolts and is marked "22" at the head. The early handguard has a high hump with milled recesses. The receiver is stamped "22" behind the clip slot, and the rear sight base is fitted with the 2,450 yard leaf sight designed for the .30-03 cartridge (which is correct). The front sight blade is not indexed to the base indicating that it is a replacement. The stock, correctly, has no proofmark on the wrist and is stamped with a boxed "J.S.A" final inspection mark. Included is a cutaway example of the Model 1903 GP cartridge adaptor

Rating Definition:

Fine. 40% plus original mottled blue finish remains with clear markings, some mild edge wear, light spotting, and a mixed gray/blue patina on the receiver. The stock is very fine with well defined finger grooves, and scattered small dings. Mechanically excellent.
