Description:

Formed in the 1940s by the Irwin family, Michigan furniture makers, and arms designer John Pederson, Irwin-Pederson produced approximately 150,000 M1 carbines before the Ordnance Department canceled their contract, making the Irwin-Pederson the most scarce of the M1 Carbines. Blade front and "S" and "RP" marked two leaf rear sights, with a "3-43" Underwood barrel, Type I band with "UP" swivel, flat bolt, "IP-W" push button safety, milled "S'G'" guard, "S'G'" hammer, "IP-W" magazine catch and a blued "SS" magazine. The underside of the operating rod is hand-marked "DELL Robison"; Robison has not been identified. Smooth pistol grip stock, with a "LW-B" 2-rivet handguard, low wood forearm, unserifed circled "P" on the grip, "041" on the left side, "IP/(bomb)" in the sling cut, and a "PM-IP" marked checkered buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine as restored to World War II configuration, with 85% of the arsenal parkerized finish, with mild wear on the muzzle and high edges, a few rough spots on the receiver, and mild handling marks. The stock is very good, with some play in the replaced upper handguard and mild dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
