Offered here is a Perazzi Extra Grade Shotgun presented to famed publisher Robert "Pete" Petersen and his wife Margie from Daniele Perazzi, founder of the Italian shotgun maker Perazzi. This is a highly personalized shotgun with fabulous one-of-a-kind engraved motifs done by Master Engraver Fausti Galeazzi, (signed on the trigger plate) that reflect the Petersen's private life. The blued barrels are signed in gold "Perazzi BRESCIA MADE IN ITALY " on the left side of the top barrel and "IMPORTER-PERAZZI-USA MONROVIA-CA." on the obverse and feature the presentation inscription "MADE FOR MY FRIENDS/MARGIE AND PETE PETERSEN/BY DANIELE" in gold on left side of the top barrel, a single bead sight on a matte vent rib, 3 inch chambers, ejectors, improved modified/modified chokes and 2000 dated Italian proofs on the barrel flat. The coin finished side lock features "EXTRA" in gold on the underside, a relief scroll and blossom engraved motif on a matte background and highly detailed banknote engraved scenes reflecting the Petersen's private life: Margie's dog watching the squirrels she fed in her backyard garden on the leftside plate, field scene depicting Robert's Spaniel flushing four grouse on the right side plate and portraits of Robert and Margie along with their Rolls Royce convertible on the underside. The scroll and blossom motif extends to the break lever, trigger guard, tang safety/barrel selector switch. The receiver has a single gold plated trigger and a manual tang safety/barrel selector with "S", "1" and "2" in gold. The forearm and round knob pistol grip stock are highly figured walnut of a higher grade than is commonly used in a Perazzi Extra Grade shotgun. The buttstock is fitted with a black Perazzi buttpad. Length of pull: 14 1/4 inches. Robert Petersen (1926-2007) of Los Angeles, California, started "Hot Rod," a magazine for car enthusiasts, and built Petersen Publishing. When he sold his publishing empire in 1996, Petersen Publishing printed 39 monthly periodicals which included such notables as "Hot Rod," "Guns & Ammo," "Sports Afield," and "Motor Trend." Petersen was also an avid gun collector. An impressive and broad collection of his rare and historic arms were donated to the NRA Museum and fill the permanent 2,000 square foot Petersen Gallery that was opened to the public in the fall of 2010.
