Manufactured in 1892 with standard markings. The included Cody Firearms Records Office Verification Email lists the configuration when it originally shipped on 20 December 1892 as 45/70 caliber, half octagon barrel, plain trigger, checkered stock, pistol grip, Lyman front, rear, and Winchester express sights, and a half magazine. It goes on to state that the rifle was returned by a New York store and the original configuration crossed out. It was then back in the warehouse on 15 April 1893 and shipped two days later in its current configuration. That being: 40/82 caliber, octagon barrel, Lyman front, rear dovetail filler, and tang mounted peep sights, plain trigger, and checkered pistol grip stock with ebony grip insert and crescent buttplate.

Fine overall, retains 50% plus original blue finish and faint original case colors/patterns with the balance a smooth grey patina and some scattered minor pitting. The finely figured, very fine wood has minor dings and scratches throughout, crisp checkering, and most of the varnish. Mechanically excellent.
