Description:

These pistols were introduced in the late 19th century. It was manufactured for Manton & Co. who were heavily involved in the gun trade in India. The pistol has full coverage Indian style koftgari floral patterns on the metal aside from the engraved German silver upper tang. The barrel is smoothbore and has bead and notch sights, "MANTON & CO 116 JERMYN ST LONDON" on top of the breech section. The stock has a fluted wrist and relief carved scroll and floral patterns.

Rating Definition:

Fine as period custom embellished with nearly all of the gold remaining, aged patina on the German silver, general minor wear, some scratches and dings on the stock, and somewhat loose pommel cap and hammer spur. Mechanically fine. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
