Only about 2,000 of these were made and many were altered during the Civil War. It is dated "1839" on the breechblock, an "A" inspection mark on the frame, and has the other standard markings and features, including the ramrod type sliding bayonet. The buttstock appears to be marked upside down with "CA/BO" faintly. Removable collection mark on the trigger guard. These carbines were issued to the 2nd U.S. Dragoons and used by them during the Seminole Wars in Florida.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus, showing traces of original brown finish with the balance a mottled grey-brown patina with some scattered light pitting. The reoiled wood is fine with some scattered minor dings. Mechanically excellent.
