Description:

Ed Blanchard began making spurs sometime in the late 1940s after returning from World War II. Initially he started making spurs out of necessity as he was working as a travelling cowboy and needed a pair. This pair were manufactured circa the 1960s-1970s. They show his standard model and material marking of "#6SS" inside the heel band along with "E.F.BLANCHARD YUCCA AZ." and a hand engraved "reverse SR" cattle brand. The wide heel bands are plain stainless steel with angled swinging buttons, short gooseneck shanks and small toothed rowels, as typical of his work. With leather straps. Provenance: Discovered in Texas Hill Country, Bruce Bartlett. Heel band width: 1 1/4" Shanks: 2" Rowel diameter: 1 3/16" Heel opening: 3 3/16".

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall, showing mostly bright stainless steel with some scattered brown patina and wear/marks consistent with use. The leather straps are excellent with minimal wear.
