Description:

Measuring 17 inches overall, with a 12 1/4 inch straight clip blade, with the Collins markings stamped on the left side and a Collins paper label attached to the reverse. The grip is of leather washer construction, with brass plates at top and bottom and a slight extension to the pommel. The sheath and hanger are brown leather construction, with a German silver tip, stamped "SOCIETY OF/COLONIAL WARS/IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK/BANQUET IN HONOR OF MEMBERS/WHO SERVED IN SPANISH WAR - JAN. 16,1899" on the side of the body. A hereditary society for the descendants of pre-Revolution American conflicts, the New York Society had members among the forces called up to fight in the Spanish-American War.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The blade shows some light spotting and rubbing, with over half of the label remaining legible and some mild handling marks on the hilt. The hanger is a bit rough, but the sheath only shows mild wear, scuffs and stains. The commemorative marking is crisp.
