The included copy of the Holland & Holland factory ledger page confirms the serial number, grade, barrel length, and features. The ledger page states the gun was finished at the factory on October 21, 1898 and was later returned to the factory on July 7, 1907 to have the chokes altered. Blue dovetail barrels with a smooth concave rib, single steel bead sight, "HOLLAND & HOLLAND/98 NEW BOND STREET, LONDON" maker's marks just forward of the breech, light scroll engraving at the breech, 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, and skeet/skeet chokes. The casehardened receiver and lock plates feature full coverage Royal scroll engraving with standard maker's marks, "ROYAL/HAMMERLESS/EJECTOR" on the underside, gold lined cocking indicators, dual triggers, and automatic sliding tang safety with gold inlaid "SAFE". Attractively figured, multi-point checkered forearm with engraved fittings and Anson style latch, and straight grip stock with relief carved tear drop flats, blank initial oval, and leather wrapped recoil pad. With cloth covered factory takedown case with interior trade label with the later Bruton Street address, two-piece wood cleaning rod, glass oiler, snap caps, and cleaning rod heads. Bore and stock measurements (R/L): chambers proved at "1 1/8 oz." and measured at 2 3/4 inches; both bores from the breech proved at "12" and measured at .738/.735; chokes measured at .004/.004; minimum wall thickness measured at .023/.023; drop at comb 1 1/2 inches; drop at heel 2 1/4 inches; length of pull 14 5/8 inches; weight 6 lbs. 11 oz.

Very fine as professionally refurbished 97% refinished blue remains with clear, though slightly light markings, faint muzzle wear, and some small marks under the forearm. The receiver has sharp, distinct engraving with 45% original muted case colors and a fine gray patina on the balance. The refurbished wood is fine with a 1/4 inch hairline crack visible at the tail of the left lock, crisp recut checkering, attractive, dark figure, and newer recoil pad. Case is good with scuffs and dings on the exterior and some wear on the leather.
