This is a fine example of a late 1944 dated WWII British Enfield No. 4 Mk 1(T) sniper rifle that is fitted with a No. 32 Mk III scope and mount. These rifles were the standard WWII British sniper rifle, used until the early 1960s. The butt socket is marked "M47C/1944/B34692/TR". It has a black wartime finish with a walnut buttstock, forend and handguards. The comb of the stock is fitted with a hardwood replacement cheekpiece held on with two wood screws. It has the standard blade front sight with a "S" marked MkI rear sight. The buttstock has the correct British acceptance proofs along with the "S51" stamping behind the pistol grip area indicating it was converted by H&H with the scope number "17933" stamped on top of the wrist. The underside of the forend is stamped with serial number "34692" along with several small British proofmarks. It is currently fitted with a No. 32 Mk III sniper scope that is marked "TEL. STG/No.32 Mk.III/O.S. 2039A/A.K. &S No 17933/1945", and it has the standard post and cross-hair reticle pattern. The side of the mount is stamped "JC", and it is numbered on the rear with "B34692". The top and bottom half of the scope rings are stamped "56" and "57". This sniper rifle is complete with one original box magazine that is stamped with serial number "34692" and a bayonet.
