This is the 148th Krieghoff "S" code Luger manufactured in limited quantities for the Luftwaffe, with a low three-digit serial number. This Luger has the early "S" code over the chamber indicating manufacture in 1936. It has the early toggle markings with the "H/Krieghoff Anchor/K" over "SUHL". The left point of the anchor nearly touches the letter "H" and the word "SUHL" has the flat bottom on the letter "U". The right side of the barrel extension is marked with the early "LWaA" 1st-stage 1 early Luftwaffe acceptance proof followed by the Luftwaffe test proof and small "eagle/2" proof. The underside of the barrel is marked with only the bore diameter and the "eagle/2" acceptance proof. It has the typical military style serial number placement with the full serial number on the front frame and the left side of the barrel extension with the last two digits on the various smaller parts. The pistol has a set of slightly thicker checkered walnut grips, the left side having the serial number penciled on the back side, the right grip unnumbered and a nickel plated magazine body with cast aluminum base that is stamped with the Krieghoff Luftwaffe "eagle/2" proof over serial number "6969". Comes with a 1939 dated brown leather holster manufactured by Voegels and stamped with an "eagle/WaA" proof, dismantling tool and an extra nickel plated magazine with aluminum base marked only with the serial number "4495."
