Manufactured in 1940, one of less than 6,000 pistols inspected Major Charles S. Reed, U.S. Ordnance inspector from August 1938-December 1940. Blade front and flat top notch rear sights, with the two-line, two-block address divided by the Rampant Colt on the left side of the slide, "P" on top, and the matching serial number around the firing pin. The "CSR" inspection mark is present on the left side of the frame and on top by the disconnector hole with a "P" by the magazine release button, and "T/VP" and "69" on the trigger guard. Fitted with a short milled trigger, wide hammer, long grip safety, arched checkered mainspring housing, checkered grips, a replacement "COLT/.45 AUTO" marked full blue magazine, and a "COLT .45 AUTO" marked barrel with "P" proof on left side of barrel lug.

Very fine, with 80% of the original blue finish, showing a mixed brown and gray patina on the frame, bright edge wear, mild spotting concentrated on the slide, and some light takedown lines and handling marks. The grips are very good, with moderate wear on bottom of both panels, some dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
