Description:

Manufactured in Germany for the Santa Fe Division of Golden State Arms. These "3/62" date coded H&K G3 rifles represent the first G3s imported into the United States, and only about 20 rifles came in the first shipment. Later shipments had slight alterations to further differentiate these from the original German G3 battle rifle. The left side of the magazine well is marked "G3 MK 2085/HK 3/62". The pinned trigger group is marked "MADE IN GERMANY FOR/SANTA/FE/SANTA FE DIVISION/GOLDEN STATE ARMS CORPORATION/CALIFORNIA - U.S.A./CAL 7.62 mm NATO". The trigger group is the correct pinned (sometimes referred to as the "Santa Fe Swingdown") style without the welded shelf found on later H&K rifles. This is important since it means this rifle can be converted to fully automatic with a simple change of the bolt and trigger group. The semi-automatic trigger group has the standard "S/E" markings with a raised dimple locking out a possible third position. Fitted with a detachable, spring clamp bird cage flash hider, hooded post front and four position rear drum sights, ventilated and grooved hardwood forearm, smooth polymer pistol grip, and fixed hardwood buttstock, and a serrated hard rubber buttplate. The metal components have an overall satin gray phosphate finish. Because of their easy conversion and early dates of manufacture, many of these early "3/62" dated G3s were used as host guns for full-auto builds, making those in the original semi-automatic configuration exceedingly rare. Magazine absent.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. 90% original gray phosphate finish remains with some areas of moderate edge and highpoint wear, surface scratches, and handling marks overall. The handguard and buttstock have attractive color and grain with scattered dings and bruises throughout. Mechanically excellent. This super rare original H&K "3/62" dated G3 would be a sought after addition to any modern sporting rifle collection!
