Description:

This is a fine example of a late WWII Model M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine manufactured by the Inland Manufacturing Division of General Motors. This example would have been produced in the second contract of paratroopers from 3-44 to 1-45. It has the standard receiver markings with the barrel marked "INLAND MFG. DIV./GENERAL MOTORS/5-44". It the various late war components such as the late type III milled rear sight, type III barrel band with bayonet lug, blued round M2 style bolt, a type III trigger housing with the "INLAND" facing rearward, a blued magazine release with "M" marked on the face and a flip safety. It has the second pattern, low wood folding stock with the wide pistol grip with the late "S-A" stamped on the underside of the grip. The left rear side of the stock is stamped with a small "RA" rebuild cartouche and a single uncircled "P" and "RA" stamped on the face of the pistol grip. It is also fitted with a two rivet, shallow milled handguard. The folding buttplate has the correct cast in numbers on the back side. The leather cheekpiece is riveted on with three brass rivets with each one stamped with 7/5 on the face. Magazine absent.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished with 98% of a slate gray parkerized finish overall with only minor edge and high spot wear. As noted, the complete bolt, magazine release and flip safety are blued. The stock and handguard are both in very fine condition with the handguard having a light brown color with a slightly darker brown tone on the stock assembly. Both show minor handling marks and dings in some areas. The various stamps as noted above are clear and sharp.
