Description:

This is an excellent example of a late commercial production Model 1928 Thompson submachine gun as manufactured by the Auto-Ordnance Corporation of West Hurley, New York, circa late 1970s early 80s. These late new production weapons made with newly manufactured components retained all the various earlier configuration parts such as the finned barrel, Thompson-Cutts style compensator, vertical fore grip, detachable buttstock, and adjustable ladder rear sight. This series of SMG can be easily identified by the "A" serial number suffix. The left side of the receiver is marked "U.S. MODEL 1928/No.1351A" followed by "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45M1". The right side is marked "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION/WEST HURLEY, NEW YORK, U.S.A." This desirable weapon has an all walnut stock, vertical fore grip and pistol grip with the all blued finish. This lot includes (1) "L" type Auto-Ordnance marked, 50 round drum magazine and (2) thirty round stick magazines, a manual on the Thompson Submachine Guns and a American Rifleman article on these same weapons.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 97% plus of original blued type finish overall with scattered scratches and handling marks, only a hint of edge wear. The wood components are all in excellent condition with a nice medium brown color overall showing some minor handling marks on the sides of the pistol grip and left rear edge of the buttstock. The magazines are all in excellent condition. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
