Confirmed by the included Colt factory letter, this pistol was kept by the Colt factory as a display piece and sample pistol. The letter also confirms the caliber, barrel length, blue finish with gold etched Watertown South Dakota Police Department centennial motifs, and checkered walnut grips with gold Rampant Colt Medallion inlays. Complete with Colt "wood grain" box with Custom Shop label numbered to the gun and a 1982 dated invoice indicating that pistol was "to be placed in archives".
