This is a late manufacture Springfield Armory Inc. M1A semi-automatic rifle with M14E2 stock and has a mix of US GI parts and commercial parts. It is fitted with one of the Springfield Armory Inc. M14E2 style walnut pistol grip stocks and a ventilated handguard. This type of stock was intended for the early M14 fully automatic rifles but was eventually adopted for use on the late M14 sniper rifles due to the ease of holding/controlling it with the pistol grip design. This rifle is also fitted with one of the Springfield Armory's commercial ART type sniper scopes and mount along with an original GI hard fiberglass type storage can for the scope and mount. This scope design is patterned after the original ART II scopes with the auto-ranging feature. The side of the scope tube is marked "ART/MPC" with serial number "002224" on the side and the range scale on the rear marked in "METERS". The rifle has a "Winchester" marked barrel and a TRW marked bolt with the balance of the parts being Springfield Armory Inc. commercial parts. It has a WWII type locking bar rear sight assembly, and the standard M14 type flash hider and front sight. The M14E2 type stock has the selector cutouts on the right side, a folding foregrip, and rubber buttplate with the folding metal shoulder rest. The left side is stamped with the DOD Cartouche with a single circled "P" proof in the pistol grip area. It comes with M2 type folding bipod mounted on the barrel, a green canvas sling, and one GI 20 round magazine.
