Description:

This revolver is one of approximately 2,000 brass frame Walch revolvers manufactured in 1860-1862 by the New Haven Arms Company (then controlled by Oliver Winchester) in the same factory as the famous Henry rifles making them in essence a very early part of Winchester's history. The long cylinder contains two charges per chamber, and each chamber has two nipples. It has two hammers tripped by a single spur trigger. The barrel is marked "WALCH FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-YORK/PAT'D. FEB. 8. 1859." The matching serial number is on the grips and grip frame. The cylinder has Birmingham, England, proofmarks.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with attractively aged patina visible on the frame, 20% original blue finish, traces of original case colors, smooth brown patina on most of the balance, some minor marks and scratches throughout, light oxidization, and general mild wear. The grips are fine and have mild lower edge wear, general scrapes and dings, and a small crack at the heel on the right. Mechanically fine.
