Description:

The barrel has the "ADDRESS COL. COLT LONDON" address, London proofs are on the barrel and cylinder, an "L" is by the serial number on the butt, the grip straps are blued steel, and the case label has the "14, PALL MALL, LONDON, S.W." address; these are all correct for a Colt revolver specifically destined for the English market. Colt's look-up dates it to 1868. It has a brass cone front sight, the standard hammer notch rear sight, standard patent and caliber markings, and matching serial numbers (including the grip). The case also contains a cleaning rod, oiler, L-shaped combination tool, blued Colt patent bullet mold, Eley Bros. cap tin, and James Dixon & Sons pocket flask.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 70% original blue finish, 60% original case colors, solid safety pins, crisp markings, smooth gray and brown patinas where the finish has flaked/faded, minor spotting, mild cylinder drag lines, and minor scrapes and dings. The grip is also very fine and has glossy original varnish, a minor dent on the upper left, light edge wear, and some minor pressure marks. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are all fine and have mild age and storage related wear. The interior case lid label is complete and has fine print and some oil spotting. Provenance: The Legendary Mac McCroskie Collection
