This is one of approximately 9,000 Richards conversions manufactured in 1871-1878 based on designs by Charles B. Richards; Richards was also one of the designers of the Colt Single Action Army, and some of these revolvers were manufactured alongside the Single Action Army and are believed to have seen significant use in the Old West. The revolver is numbered within the standard Model 1860 Army serial number range and has the standard markings and features associated with this variation, including matching visible serial numbers and "167" on the loading gate.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% original blue finish remaining, 50% plus original case colors, 20% original silver plating, aged patina on the exposed brass, mostly smooth gray and brown patina on the balance, distinct markings, partial wedge spring, and minor oxidation/pitting. The refinished grip is very good and has smooth oiled finish, light pressure marks and scratches, and minor edge wear. The action is a bit stiff but is otherwise mechanically fine.
