Exceptional and Rare Cased London Colt Model 1862 Pocket Navy Percussion Revolver

The barrel has "ADDRESS COL. COLT LONDON," the barrel and cylinder have London proofs, the main serial numbers have an "L" marked nearby, the grip straps are blued steel, and the case label has the "14, PALL MALL, LONDON, S.W." address; these are all correct for a Colt percussion revolver manufactured specifically for the English market. The serial number dates to 1868 per Colt's look-up, and all of the visible numbers match (not disassembled out of caution). It also has a small brass cone front sight, hammer notch rear sight, the stagecoach cylinder scene, standard patent marking, "36 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard, and high polish "piano varnish" on the grip. The case also contains a bore rod, lead ball, L-shaped combination tool, oiler, blued Colt patent bullet mold, Eley Bros. cap tin, and James Dixon & Sons "COLTS POCKET FLASK."

ConditionExcellent plus with 97% plus original bright original high polish blue finish, 98% plus of the vivid original case colors, some minor marks and scratches, crisp markings, and extremely minor cylinder drag lines. The grip is excellent and has nearly all of the glossy varnish, a few dings and scrapes, and minor edge wear. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are all very fine to excellent and have mild age and storage related wear as well as one cracked divider. This is a very impressive cased set and the finest example of this type that writer can recall offering at auction! Provenance: The Legendary Mac McCroskie Collection
