Description:

Manufactured in 1857 under contract with the U.S. Ordnance Department. It has a brass post front sight, "-ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD CT.-" on top of the barrel, the standard cylinder scene, "COLTS/PATENT/U.S." on the left side of the frame, "V" and "M" on the left side of the trigger guard, small singled letter inspection markings, and matching serial numbers (including the grip). This revolver is just 12 digits away from the previous lot.

Rating Definition:

Very good with traces of original finish mixed with dark brown and gray patina, moderate scrapes and dings, some filing wear on the barrel, grooves on the cylinder pin around the wedge slot, mostly distinct markings, and a couple replacement screws. The grip is also very good and has traces of the cartouches, mild lower edge wear, light scratches and dings, and a small chip at the toe on the right. Mechanically fine.
