Description:

Samuel Gobrecht was listed as a gunsmith in York County tax records in 1807. This rifle is similar to others by him, particularly the patch box design. It has blade and notch sights, a partially visible "S. GOBRECHT" signature on top at the breech, incised molding lines terminating in scrolls on the forend, light engraving on the brass furniture, an unmarked lock, incised lines at the front of the butt, and a rather ornate single trigger.

Rating Definition:

Good as reconverted to flintlock configuration with mix of authentic patina and applied brown along the reconverted lock and barrel, aged patina on the brass, splices and repairs along the forend, another splice and a chip absent at the top of the lock, a few other minor chips and cracks, and some subtle flame figure. Mechanically fine.
