Description:

Manufactured c. 1874-1875. Features a Rocky Mountain blade front sight, "SHARPS RIFLE MANUFG. CO. HARTFORD CONN." on top ahead of the notch and folding ladder rear sight, "50 CALIBRE" at an angle on top at the breech, the matching serial number on the upper tang and bottom of the barrel, standard patent marking, double set triggers, and smooth stock and forearm with pewter cap and plain buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fair original blue visible in the protected area covered by the forearm, gray and brown patina on the balance along with some artificial brown, partially remarked barrel, light oxidation/pitting, and general moderate wear. The refinished and repaired wood is fair and has some minor flakes and chips at the edges, general dings and scratches, a section of the forearm cap finial absent, spliced toe, and mild wear. Mechanically fine.
