Manufactured from 1859 to 1874, Model 3D pistols were produced without a side plate, no pivot screw forward of the barrel release button and are generally found with an extractor mounted vertically between the barrels. The top of the barrel cluster in the flute has the one-line Philadelphia address of "ADDRESS SHARPS & HANKINS PHILADELPHIA. PENN." The left side of the frame has the barrel release and the right side of the frame has the two-line "C. SHARPS PATENT/JAN. 25, 1859" patent date. It has a rounded grip to frame juncture, blue finish barrel cluster with casehardened frame and is fitted with checkered hard rubber grips.

Excellent. The barrel cluster retains 95% plus original high polish blue finish with only mild spotting. The frame retains 90% original vibrant and deep case colors with the balance an attractive even dove gray. All markings are crisp and clear. The grips are very fine with a cracked left panel and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically fine. An attractive and rare Sharps and Hankins.
