Description:

1) Aviation Tunic, with plastic buttons, Signal Corps patch on the right sleeve, one service chevron on the left, and a scarce variant Aviator Wings in bullion. On the wings feature is a cylindrical "baffle" assembly, which is numbered "11". One of the interior pockets bears a hand-marked label for John Johnson, the 11th Photography Section of the Army Air Service. In fact, only three are known to exist. Per the consignor, it is one of the rarest wings in existence. 2) 1st Lieutenant's tunic, with brass buttons, silver-finished shoulder bars, silver and gold bullion junior aviator wings, and a gold bullion flying eagle on the right shoulder. Inside the right interior pocket is a Society Brand Clothes/Alfred Decker & Cohn (Chicago) label hand-marked "Paton MacGilvary". Records show MacGilvary as one of a number of American aviators who were stationed with Italian Air Force units in order to be trained and familiarized with the Caproni multi-engine bomber, with MacGilvary graduating from an Italian cadet program at Foggia in December of 1917 and being posted to Squadriglie 2a from June 1918 through to the Armistice. The eagle on the sleeve appears to be an Italian Aviator Wing patch, which can be seen worn in similar manner by Italian pilots during World War One.

Rating Definition:

Both are very good, with some light wear, stains, and a few small holes.
