U.S. Colt Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Holster, Magazine Pouch and Display Case

Manufactured in 1915. Blade front and flat top notch rear sights, the two-line/two-block address and patent dates on the left side of the slide ahead of the Rampant Colt, the Army nomenclature on the reverse, and a "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" marked frame with "GHS" (Gilbert Smith) inspection mark on the left side. Fitted with a long smooth trigger, wide checkered hammer, short grip safety, smooth mainspring housing, checkered grips, a two-tone pinned base magazine, and a "P/H" marked barrel. A set of French silver 50 centime coins have been inlaid into the grips, the reverse on the right side showing a 1918 date; while service use of this pistol is not documented, this would be an appropriate service commemorative decoration for an AEF soldier posted to the Western Front. Included with the pistol is a brown leather swivel hanger "US" holster with "2A63" stamped on the flap, a green canvas Mills magazine pouch, and a glass topped hardwood display case.

ConditionFine, with 70% of the original blue finish, showing areas of brown and gray patina, scattered spotting, bright edge wear and mild handling marks. The period modified grips are very good, with mild dings and dents. The inlay cuts are darkly aged, and the coins show a mixed antique patina, with light rubbing on the centers and darker color around the protected edges. The holster shows some tearing and cracking, and the pouch shows some light stains and wear. Mechanically excellent.
