This extra large ratio Browning BAR 1918A2 classroom demonstrator model features full metal construction with multiple cutaway areas to display the inner workings, and correct open bolt cycling action. This impressive specimen measures a full 94 1/2 inches or 7 foot 8 inches from the muzzle to the stock heel! The full cast metal construction is unusual as most large scale demonstrators were manufactured using metal components and lighter weight wood or composite stocks and forends. With display stand with wood base marked "WORKING MODEL BROWNING/AUTOMATIC RIFLE/CAL. 30 M-1918-A2" and identification plaques marked "MANUFACTURED BY/J.H. KEENEY & Co. INC./2600 W. 50TH ST/CHICAGO 32, IL" and "DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY/OFFICE OF NAVAL RESEARCH/SPECIAL DEVICES CENTER/TRAINING AID/RIFLE/BROWNING, AUTOMATIC". 16 rounds of matching scaled dummy ammunition are also included.
Very fine. The demonstrator has an overall bright polished finish with some traces of oxidation on the unpolished areas, handling marks, overall and some small scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. Display stand is fine with some minor paint loss and dings throughout. An impressive working display piece for any gun room or museum.
