This is an example of a very desirable original Colt Firearms Division commercially manufactured fully automatic M16 rifle. These original Colt fully automatic M16 series rifles are very desirable as they were produced exactly as their military counterpart using the same military grade, factory original parts. To keep them separate and distinct from the military weapons, they were given their own special commercial serial number designation in the 9 Million serial number range. Adjustable pin front and two-leaf flip rear sights, with a fully ported bird cage flash hider and bayonet lug on the unmarked barrel, vented triangular handguard, forward assist equipped upper receiver, and a one-piece buffer assembly. Standard markings are present on the lower receiver, with a fenced magazine catch, checkered pistol grip, and a fixed buttstock. "BART POLICE/1" has been hand-scribed into the underside of the trigger guard; while not documented, this may indicate the rifle as the former property of the Bay Area Rapid Transit Police of California. Included with the rifle is a Colt-marked bayonet (11 3/4 inches OAL, 6 3/4 inch blade, M8A1 sheath), three copies of TM 9-1005-249-10 (M16/M16A1 operator's manual), two spring-loaded bipods with canvas cases, eighteen extra magazines (assorted manufacturers), and a green plastic ammunition case.

Excellent, with 95% of the original black finish, showing some mild edge wear, handling marks, and some mixed color on the upper receiver. The handguard and stock show mild wear and scuffs. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
