This is a very fine example of a scarce prewar "Krieghoff" Luftwaffe contract Luger with the two digit "36" dated chamber. Krieghoff was the primary supplier to the Luftwaffe during WWII and they are prized for their fine fit and finish. The pistol is finished in a high polish blue with straw colored small parts. Based on the serial number range of this specific pistol, it falls into a very late two digit variant model as noted in Gibson's book on Krieghoff Luger pistols and was probably actually produced interspersed in the "1936" dated pistol range. It has the C-1 style Krieghoff toggle markings. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with the double "Eagle/2" Luftwaffe Waffenamt proofs with the single "eagle" firing proof. The underside of the barrel is correctly marked with the bore diameter "884", and a single Luftwaffe "Eagle/2" firing proof over the smaller sized serial number, "4467". The left side of the breech and rear toggle are stamped with a single "Eagle/2" Luftwaffe acceptance proof. It is fitted with the correct WWII Krieghoff-Ritzmann brown checkered plastic grips with the fine checkering and is complete with one nickel plated magazine body with the extruded aluminum base that has a single inverted "Eagle/2" Luftwaffe acceptance stamp over serial number "4467".

Very fine with 85% plus of the original blue finish with edge and high spot wear overall with minor blue loss on the front edges of the frame rails, side plate hump and muzzle area along with the lower edges of the grip straps. The smaller parts retain 40% of their original straw colors overall. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides showing some minor light pressure dents on the left side grip. Mechanically excellent.
