Description:

This beautifully detailed bronze statue depicts a young Theodore Roosevelt, during his hunting trips to the Dakota Territory in the 1880s. The statue is very similar to many photos from that hunting excursion, showing Teddy in full buckskin attire and a fur hat, armed with a cartridge belt, Tiffany hunting knife, and his famous special order engraved Winchester Model 1876. These early trips to the American West are often cited as having molded Roosevelt into the American icon and president he would later become. The statue stands approximately 12 1/2 inches tall including the rough hewn hardwood base being approximately 10x7 1/4 inches. The bronze base of the statue shows a "TR" monogram, similar to the one found on his famous hunting knife, near the butt of the rifle. It is signed by the legendary Colt Master Engraver "A.A. White" on the back of the boulder shaped base and numbered "S/08980" on the bottom. Perfect for adding both a piece of the frontier and an American icon by a legendary firearms artist to your desk or study. Provenance: The Alvin White Collection

Rating Definition:

Excellent, showing an attractive antique bronze patina overall with a few minor age cracks in the wood base.
