Isaac Riviere (1781-1851) was an innovative gunmaker in London. The "guns without locks" mentioned on the trade label were early percussion guns patented by Riviere in 1825. The locks are marked "RIVIERE" at center, and the barrels have ""- ->LONDON<- -" on top and post-1813 Birmingham proofs and "TWISTED" marked on the bottom flats. The barrels are also smoothbore and have post front sights. The upper tangs have integral notch rear sights and floral engraving. The locks have light engraving and sliding safeties. The iron trigger guards also have martial and floral engraving. Belt hooks are fitted to the left sides, and the full-length stocks have blank silver wrist escutcheons and narrow wrists with fine checkering. The case has a William Tranter multi-tool, "12" marked punch, rod with worm, unmarked three-way combination flask, and a couple of lead balls and patches.

Fine with 85% of the period refinished brown and distinct Damascus patterns along the barrel, dark aged patina on the silver wrist escutcheon, smooth gray and brown patina on the lock and furniture, some light oxidation/pitting, and general mild wear. The stock is also fine and has crisp checkering, a crack on the left, and minor scrapes and dings. Mechanically fine. The relined case and the accessories are good and show moderate wear. The exterior is revarnished over numerous dents, dings, and edge wear.
