This revolver is pictured on the front cover and page 228 of "Webley Solid Frame Revolvers: Models RIC, MP, and No. 5" by Black, Davis, and Michaud and listed as sold to "'Clarke Esq.' in December 1883." The cylinder has "A.W.C.," "G.A.C.C.," and "C.A.C." engraved through the blue between the flutes. It is possible these are the initials of men from three generations of the Clarke family. The revolver also features fixed rounded blade and top strap groove sights, a Colt style ejector on the right side of the barrel and frame, "ARMY & NAVY C.S.L." and "EXPRESS" on the top strap, the "W&S" winged bullet trademark and "1159" on the left side of the frame, "WEBLEY'S/No 5/455" on the right side of the frame, "2" and "159" on the back of the cylinder, a lanyard ring on the butt, "10" and "1" on the back of the checkered grips, and "2," "10," and "1" on the left side of the grip frame. The oak case has blue baize lining, an empty cartridge block, an square glass oil bottle, key, screwdriver, and cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus original bright high polish blue finish, large spot smooth light brown patina on the bottom of trigger guard, light scratches and marks, and general minor wear. The grips are also very fine and have smooth finish, crisp checkering, and minor handling wear. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine and has mild age and storage related wear.
