Description:

This revolver is pictured on page 153 of "Webley Solid Frame Revolvers: Models RIC, MP, and No. 5" by Black, Davis, and Michaud where it is listed as "Webley (Charles Pryse) RIC No. 1 [No. 2 style]. It has "PRYSE'S/R.I.C." and "CARTRIDGE BRAND/[bullet emblem]/REGISE" and "No 1" on the left side of the frame, a ramped rib with a rounded blade front sight, top strap groove rear sight, cross scepter style proofs (may not be standard Birmingham proofs), "450" on the back of the cylinder, a nicely checkered grip marked "4429" (registration mark) on top at the rear, lanyard loop on the butt, and "7" on the bottom of the barrel, front of the cylinder pin, front of the cylinder, and front of the loading gate. It comes with a brown leather flap holster. Charles Pryse patented improvements in revolvers that were adopted on the top break Webley No. 4 "Pryse Pattern" revolvers. Pryse was also among the directors of the Birmingham Small Arms Co. It is possible some of the parts came from Webley or their suppliers. It was probably manufactured in the 1880s.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% plus original nickel plating, some spots of minor flaking, mild edge wear, and general minor marks and scratches. The grip is also very fine and has crisp checkering and minor handling and storage wear. Mechanically excellent. The holster is fair and has absent straps, some flaking and crackling, and a glossy polished appearance.
