This is an excellent original example of an early production Imperial German Army artillery Luger that was manufactured in the first serial number block with this being the 400th one produced. These were commonly referred to as the "Lange Pistole" (Long Pistol), denoting the longer 8 inch barrel. The chamber area is dated 1914 and it has the standard "DWM" factory monogram on the front toggle link. The barrel has a blade front and large tangent rear sight adjustable from 100-800 meters with the fine adjustment screws. The barrel extension has a set of three "crown/gothic letter" proofs on the right side with a single Imperial Eagle firing proof on the right side of the barrel. Standard safe and loaded markings. It is fitted with checkered walnut grips and comes with a single, nickel plated wooden base magazine. The base is stamped with the matching serial number "400". It has matching serial numbers on the various parts to include both grip panels and the magazine.

Excellent with 90% plus of the original blue finish still remaining overall with high spot wear with some minor specks of surface rust visible on the grip straps. 70% of the original straw colors remain. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice sharp distinct checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
